I've got soul but I'm not a soldier

Today marks my first week of many where I will work 35 hours in just five days, leaving from my first job and driving straight to my second. The long days of training have thoroughly exhausted me but today I woke up with my spirits high and my heart prepared to do it all again. Picking up the grimy forks and knives covered in remnants of customer's soup and saliva, I was positive everyone noticed my face twisted in disgust from the awful smells and the horrific act of it all. I found myself asking, "Is this my life now?" And then the many compliments from the kind customers of Panera kept me positive through my non-stop 7 hour shift. The last 10 minutes my head was spinning and my vision was blurred, so I sat down for the first time in 6 hours and 50 minutes and sipped on my first cup of water of the day. My fellow coworkers created me a sandwich and I left home with a tired spirit and a happy heart. No one said working in food service was going to be easy and I left with every intention of accepting the challenge. My least favorite aspect of the job would have to be the uniform, it is implied that I have to purchase non-slip shoes from Walmart- the manager has yet to realize that I am minoring in Fashion and Retail Studies. I have inwardly refused to buy these shoes and plan to keep a portion of my individuality in the workplace. Other than a job that triggers my gag reflex, my week has been filled with excitement! I bought my first car and it is beautiful. My dad and I test drove the car on Tuesday and on Thursday she was all mine. On Friday, the fabulous Kate came to Columbus and together we took my new beauty for a spin all over the city. Friday was the best day ever part 2, I couldn't have hoped and dreamed for a day filled with more things that I love. Kate is a blast and she loves everything. Whatever activities you and Kate fill your time with she is bound to enjoy each one of them with equal enthusiasm. I can't wait to visit her in Dayton this summer, thanks Kate for making the trip to Columbus, it was grand and we must do it again! Kate even has her own blog with the details of our big city adventure here!
Yes I am posting pictures of my new car, feel free to make fun of me.
Eskimo Queen is a crap hole, but every small town has an ice cream joint comparable to this one. I chose to pass on the ice cream but was glad to enjoy an evening with my brother and sister in Plain City. We first traveled to Pei Wei's Asian Diner and feasted on dozens of fortune cookies, "the next rounds on me!" We ate so many complimentary cookies we were forced to hide the wrappers in our drinks so the staff wouldn't notice our constant thieving. Needless to say, it was a night filled with contagious laughter and good luck (given to us through our fortunes). I am so blessed to have the family and friends that I do and thanks be to God for this beautiful life I have been given. One song I have found to be a part of my daily routine is one by the David Crowder Band and is called How He Loves Us. I recommend just sitting and listening to the powerful lyrics this song is composed of and reflecting on God's love for you. It is a song that keeps me positive when I am feeling sad or alone because it helps to remind me that I am never alone. Your day may be filled with rain and clouds, studying, or long hours at work, but remember how much you are loved by your family, your friends, and your wonderful creator.
