Last week was very interesting... Monday I walked into Spanish class and everyone wished me Happy Birthday, and the next day I passed a girl sitting on a bench with a squirrel perched on her foot. On Wednesday Mandi and I were presented with the award, "most likely to be feminists" and Thursday it was so warm I was able to break out my cotton mini skirt and lay out on my beach towel. And now that I have studied my weekend away, I am ready to begin tomorrow, my last day of Monday/Wednesday/Friday classes followed by my last night making apple crisp. Why does everything have to be the last ___? Today was my first venture to Matter Park, which was full of children made into stone figures, my first time eating Starbuck's Carmel Macchiato ice cream, the first time mold has dripped on my face from the bathroom ceiling, and the first time I have ever been on a "sway fun" with crazy, acrobatic children. Sometimes I focus too much on the activities that may be my last, and I forget the many firsts I have every day. No matter how I spin it, this week is going to stretch me, but I try and just remember how hard I have worked this semester and that my hard work will pay off in the end if I can just finish strong. Take joy in studying for the subjects you don't necessarily feel are useful and make time for fun as well. Know that situations don't have to be as stressful as you make them out to be and that looking for simple laughs in a day-such as friendly squirrels-can really turn your small stressor into something nonexistent.
